Photoimagable Hole Plug Systems
Coates offer solutions for both screen print and curtain coat hole plug processing with LPI resists. The principal advantage that LPI resists offer over UV or Thermal curing inks is that excess HP ink will be removed by developing during normal production.

Elimination of the hard brushing necessary for UV or Thermal cure HP inks means they are suitable for higher tech/HDI panels.

Photo-imageable inks are designed for wet-on-wet processing. They should be coated with LPISM immediately after hole plugging (with no cure for the hole plug or additional preclean step). Cure of the hole plug is achieved during normal LPISM processing. Although the post-bake setting may need to be different from conventional LPISM as plugged panels require a ramp up to final cure temperature to get best plug results.
