Positive Mood Bucks the Trend at Fespa

Coates Screen reported strong interest from visitors to Fespa 2002 in Madrid across all product areas and services for screen and digital printers. There may have been some pre-show pessimism but the pundits were proved wrong by the general level of attendance. Under its theme ‘Ideas in Action’ , Coates Screen naturally had staff busy showing its latest products for the screen printer, but interest in digital products exceeded even optimistic estimates. Firstly, and not necessarily so apparent, of all new digital printers launched at Fespa, most were running with their inks. Also of all new digital applications for screen print, the new Four Colour Magic colour proofing system caused a stir, offering at last a proofing system for process print that lets the printer show his customer a pre-print proof that is a realistic representation of the printed job. With a number of systems already operating in the UK, show visitors were eager to get the low-down, either through upgrading their existing SceenMatch machine, or with the adoption of the complete system. The ScreenMatch machine continues to offer an attractive alternative for other options too, as a cost effective source of film positives and wide format print.

Major interest in the high tech industrial graphics market, was shown in the limited release of Decomold DMF. This was being demonstrated on the Preco stand, with inks being printed on the roll-fed Preco SP3024 press. Visitors were also looking too for many other ‘high tech’ products and brisk interest was reported in roll label ink products, especially in UV flexo inks and the new Vioroll NTC UV screen inks.
The relaunched Coatazol range of screen supplies proved that screen printers aren’t neglecting the role of advanced formulation products in improving productivity and saving costs, in pushing forward stencil life, and in improving print quality.

Coates Screen’s world acclaimed Formulator IDS ink dispense system was busy too, with its new Windows software showing its paces in providing even easier control and reduction of ink stocks in a powerful management package.

A steady flow of South American visitors showed that benefit was gained from Fespa’s Madrid location, and that the newly established Coates Screen do Brasil is going to be busy satisfying an increasing demand for quality products, and particularly UV inks, in the region. Fespa in Madrid may have had to compete with the World Cup, in the end, it was clear that this wasn’t a problem, and as the Coates Screen football party proved, there was even time for an adjournment for many visitors to watch the UK/Argentina match!
