The
Millennium Monocures
by Robin McMillan, Global Marketing Manager
|
The back end of 1999 saw the
introduction of two new UV curing inks for container decoration; Monocure
Plus XTC Series and Monocure Ultra UVC Series. Formulated as
products suitable for use worldwide, for container decorating, these
products offer improvements over existing Monocure and a number of
competitive products. The main improvements are in adhesion to a wider
range of plastics, (including printable grades of PET), in better
intercoat adhesion, cure speed and printability, whilst still maintaining
the other properties already enjoyed by existing Moncure users.
 |
Trials have been made
across Europe and the USA, with definite advantages being cited
and new business generated, especially at printers wishing to use
the same ink for polyethylene, polypropylene and PET containers.
Monocure Plus XTC Series is an NVP-free version, in keeping with
the strict raw material controls in some territories, whilst
Monocure Ultra UVC Series does contain some NVP, for use where NVP
is deemed acceptable.
The new Monocures are also some of
the first 'industrial' inks to use the C-Mix 2000 colour system,
offering the user a verified Pantone database from just 9 base
colours (plus black, white and clear base), a printed colour guide
and full integration with the Formulator range of ink and colour
match management systems. |
