A Force to be Reckoned With!

Within the last year or so, Coates Screen in New Zealand has become a force to be reckoned with. The backing of Coates New Zealand, and Coates Screenıs Australian management, has provided the muscle, but already the local teams energy and commitment are legendary. Operating from the three bases in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, the reputation being built is one of global products on anyoneıs doorstep, at any time.
Three key names are behind this drive, and their combined experience says as much as anything.  Dennis Sharp is Coates New Zealandıs National Business Manager, Screen Division. He joined Coates New Zealand in July 1999.
Dennis has devoted a life time to the screen printing industry in New Zealand, starting as an apprentice in1963, and moving right through to print production management.  16 years ago he went into Sales getting his grounding at some of the largest screen printing supply companies in New Zealand. Dennis is supported by David Havill (Senior Ink Technician) and Frank Reader (Sales Support Technician), who Dennis says are the best in the industry.  Frank Reader is Coates New Zealandıs Sales Support Technician. Born in Fiji, he was raised in New Zealand from the age of 7 in little old Whangarei. Frank found himself after a twisted indirect path through being a worker at a sawmill, a locksmith, then being driven to do a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.  He has eventually discovered Coates New Zealand, and has stayed here for the past 2x?years. In that time he has picked up and worked with different divisions of Coates from Offset and Metal Decorating, as well as Screen. High standards are set personally by him for accuracy and integrity. With an imaginative ability to think outside the square, Frank has become a welcome and integral member of the screen team.

After completing a BSc at Auckland University, David Havill originally joined Coates in 1983, as part of the Development and Research team.  From there he gained experience in screen, liquid and even metal coatings departments. After 3 years away from Coates training to be a minister, he rejoined in 1990, initial carrying out research in paste, heatset and web areas, before joining the Paste and Screen Inks team as our Senior Technical Assistant. David has built a reputation of a good eye for colour, technical quality and customer service, building friendship and respect in the industry. His experience often allows him to look at every opportunity when looking for solutions to any customerıs challenge.
